Untuk Apa Saya Hidup?
Inilah sebuah pertanyaan abadi, tak pernah lekang oleh waktu. Untuk apa saya hidup adalah sebuah gugatan kepada setiap insan manusia yang hidup. Saya sendiri tidak berani menjawabnya, karena saya sendiri sedang mencari jawabannya dalam peziarahan kehidupan saya sendiri. Lalu anda, untuk apa anda hidup? Carilah jawabannya dan jika engkau menemukannya, niscaya kebahagiaan menaungi hari - hari hidupmu.

DPR dan Nurani Perwakilan
Polemik seputar gaya hidup DPR nampaknya tidak pernah usai. Setelah beberapa waktu lalu masyarakat dibuat gerah oleh inisiatif DPR untuk disediakan laptop mewah seharga puluhan juta rupiah dan setelah hampir saja rumah baru supermewah yang diusulkan oleh DPR nyaris dibangun, kini masyarakat indonesia dibuat tergeleng -geleng oleh gaya hidup supermewah - hedonis yang diperlihatkan oleh para wakil rakyat. Sebagai contoh kita ambil mobil para anggota DPR.
Jika anda sempat mampir ke lapangan parkir gedung DPR, mungkin anda akan terkesima dengan jejeran mobil-mobil mewah yang ada di situ. Anda mungkin berdecak kagum seraya mengagumi kekayaan para pemiliknya. Tetapi segera setelah anda tahu para pemiliknya, mungkin kekaguman anda berubah menjadi kekecewaan dan malah hujatan. "Tidak tahu diri benar para wakil rakyat ini" atau "dari mana mereka mendapatkan uang untuk membeli mobil semahal ini", mungkin kata - kata ini akan keluar dari mulut anda atau mungkin anda akan mengeluarkan kata - kata yang lebih keras atau bahkan lebih kasar dari itu.
Secara pribadi saya ingin mengajukan sebuah pertanyaan sederhana, "sadarkah para wakil rakyat akan realitas masa yang mereka wakili?'' Pertanyaan ini bagi saya sangat penting untuk dikemukakan, oleh sebuah alasan.

Ungkapan ini bisa menggugat segala yang melekat dalam predikat wakil rakyat. Mereka ada di senayan untuk mewakili masyarakat yang telah memilih mereka. Mereka adalah wakil dan bukan tuan. Sebagai wakil mereka harus memahami hidup, bahasa dan seluruh realitas dari masyarakat yang mereka wakili. Dengan kata lain, mereka harus hidup, bertutur kata dalam bahasa orang-orang (masyarakat) yang mereka wakili. Mereka tidak boleh melampauinya. Karena jika demikian yang terjadi maka mereka tdak lagi disebut wakil melainkan pengkhianat.
Menjadi wakil rakyat berarti hidup, berpikir dan bertindak untuk orang-orang yang mereka waikili. Gaya hidup mereka harus mencerminkan realitas masyarakat yang mereka wakili. Gaya hidup mewah bertentangan dengan prinsip ini. Wakil rakyat harus mengawini realitas masyarakat indonesia yang sebagian besarnya hidup di bawah garis kemiskinan. Tentu ini tidak berarti bahwa mereka harus hidup melarat. Yang saya maksudkan dengan mengawini realitas masyarakat yang diwakili berarti mereka memahami realitas masyarakat, lalu hidup solider dengan masyarakat dan berjuang untuk memperbaiki hidup masyarakat yang mereka wakili. Inilah yang disebut sinergi dan pertautan. Inilah yang saya maksudkan dengan nama adalah identitas (nomen est omen).

Komodo, for whom?
The raising debates around whether the new7worldwonder foundation is legal or not and whether advantageous or not for Komodo to be in the list of new seven world wonders for me are not important. They are peripherials.
By its history, Komodo is one of the world wonder. Another thing is the world acknowledgment to Komodo. It is what we fight for. But it is not our greatest fight. The greatest fight is taking care of Komodo, conserving this ancient animal and make sure that it lives for generation and generation.
As many scientists say that Komodo will help us to know the earth history. It's million years of survival in fact tells us how the universe and the earth in special way is forming. Komodo, in this sense, is for us all. It is not only for indonesian people but for all human being and all the earth inhabitants included.

Sampah di Jakarta. Masalah peradaban?
Apakah ada hubungan antara masalah sampah di Jakarta dengan perkembangan peradaban masyarakat penghuni Jakarta. Adakah hubungan antara penghargaan terhadap sampah dengan peradaban? Apakah sebuah negara/ kota dengan tingkat akumulasi sampah yang tinggi sekaligus berserakan hingga membentuk lautan sampah mengindikasikan bahwa penduduk kota/ negara tersebut memiliki peradaban yang rendah?
Sampah sebagai sisa barang/ benda/ material yang tidak kita gunakan layak mendapat perlakuan yang baik. Di sini yang saya maksudkan dengan perlakuan baik terhadap sampah adalah menempatkan material/ sisa yang tidak kita gunakan itu pada tempatnya. Perlakuan baik terhadap sampah memiliki implikasi arah ganda. Pertama, dengan menempatkan sampah pada tempatnya kita hendak mengatakan 'terima kasih, engkau telah memberikan aku yang terbaik dari dirimu dan sekarang sebagai rasa terima kasihku aku menempatkan engkau di tempat terbaik juga.' Perlakuan ini menunjukan bahwa kita adalah pribadi yang memiliki rasa terima kasih pada apa saja yang telah memberikan fungsinya bagi kita. Kedua, dengan membuang sampah pada tempatnya kita juga menempatkan diri kita pada posisi yang aman, nyaman. Kemungkinan terjadinya banjir bisa diminimalisasi, karena got -got bisa mengalirkan air dengan baik, pemandangan selalu segar karena tidak ada bau menyengat dari tumpukan sampah yang membusuk di sembarang tempat.
Demikianlah cara memperlakukan sampah erat kaitannya dengan peradaban. Semakin baik sebuah negara/ kota memperlakukan sampah berarti warganya memiliki peradaban yang baik dan sebaliknya semakin buruk sebuah negara/ kota memperlakukan sampah maka peradabannya buruk/ rendah. Lalu apakah warga Jakarta memiliki peradaban yang baik? Melihat sampah yang berserakan di mana - mana dan menyaksikan begitu banyak masyarakat tak terkecuali yang mengemudi mobil mewah membuang sampah di sembarang tempat, saya ragu kalau warga kota ini memiliki peradaban yang maju..Jika ada yang keberatan, maka mulailah untuk memperlakukan sampah dengan baik dan terhormat.

What Makes us too different 2?
He pensado mucho en esta pregunta. He pensado en varios por ques. Influye mucha la comida/ la nutricion en esa diferencia? O quiza la clima juega un papel importante en este aspecto? O puede tambien influir la cultura a la manera de pensar y de ver la realidad de la gente?
La ciencia dice que la comida determina el creciemiento fisico y intelectual de la gente. Y la comida con un alto grado de nutricion es la carne o pescado o todo lo que pertenece a la nutricion animal y la nutricion vegetal. Aunque no todos los genios vienen de una familia bien nutrida, pero la mayoria de ellos vienen de ella. Carne es una de los fuentes de proteina ademas de pescado y otros productos derivados de estos. En un grado mas o menos, se puede decir que la comida juega un papel, no absoluto por supuesto, en producir gente de buena calidad intelectual.
La clima, otro factor, como sabemos influye en la manera de vivir de la gente. La gente que vive en los paises con 4 estaciones normalmente pasan mucho tiempo metido en los salones comodos especialmente durante el otono y invierno. Tengo la sensacion de que gente que pasan mucho tiempo en casa/ oficina durante los meses de otono y invierno suelen pasar el tiempo leyendo o escribiendo. Yo tengo la experiencia de esto. Mis cuatro anos en Espana habian sido fructiferos, escribia casi cada noche durante el otono y invierno. La clima creo que me ayudaba. Si miramos la mapa del mundo intelectual y descubrimiento nuevo vemos que la mayoria de ellos vienen de esos paises. La clima les ayuda a meterse mas en salon leyendo o escribiendo o inventando cosa nueva.
La cultura y la educacion, como no, juegan un papel importantisimo en este aspecto. La cultura determina la manera de pensar o de actuarse o de como ver al mundo y la otra gente. La cultura europea ha sido afinada durante siglos por los discubrimientos tanto el geograficos como tecnicos, las guerras y la colonizacion. Estas experiencias les hace crecer con espiritu de dominio, de conquista y de sentirse superior a los otros. La competencia es la palabra producida por esta cultura. La competencia significa competir con los demas o conquistar algo o los demas y vencer a los demas. Ser el mejor que los demas es su objetivo. Y la educacion que alli se cuida muy bien les hace mas finos, mas de cabeza aunque el espiritu de dominio sigue alli.
Quiero decir que solo los que comen bien, vivir en cuatro estaciones o tienen la cultura conquistadora y de buena educacion pueden llegar a ser mejor? Yo digo no! Entonces que?
En realidad y en el fondo, lo que nos hace diferente es el espiritu DEL SER EL MEJOR de ti/ mi/ nosotros mismo. Steve Jones, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein y tantos otros genios han avanzado tanto y brillan tanto en su camino porque ellos han sabido sacar lo mejor de si mismo y no se resisten en desarollarlo al maximo. Asi que, podemos ser los mejores si sabemos sacar lo mejor de nosotros y llevarlos a su realizacion total. Esta es la clave de todo exito y brillantez.

What Makes us too different?
Why Steve Jobs is so brightful but indonesian people is brightless? Why the jews are so briliant and none of us indonesian people can reach that brightness? It is my question....a big and a very deep searching for its answer. I will swimm in it and try to find its answer... I will make it the starting point of my endless journey....as life is a journey to the eternity.

Man and His Work
In these last years, many countries suffer from the disemployment. In Europe, the scala of disemployment is alarming. European countries like Greece or Portugal now are facing the darkest periode of their disemployment histroy. Many say that this is the greatest crisis ever occured in this last decade in these two countries.
What happen then to those who lose their work? How do they face this fact? Philosophically, man is homo faber, creature that need to work and he need it as his nature. Work for man is not only as a medium to survive or as an expresion of his existence, work is the desire, the dream, the mourning of man' soul. It is part of his existence.
Then we can imagine the feeling, the expression of those who lose their work. Their pride as homo faber, their personal journey as pilgrimers in time would be, in any grade, decreased. It need time to its recovery.
But this crisis can not be seen merely as a powerlessness, on the contrary, it can be also seen as a way or medium of solidarity, the moment to share. And it is the pure meaning of humannity. Man is not only work for himself but for all humankind too and the universe as well. The disemployment is also a sign of interdepence, that any countries in the world can not stand alone. One needs the other. May it is our time to be more human, to be more solidary that implies to share more.

Basura y Nuestra Civilizacion
La estacion de lluvia esta por venir. Muy pronto. Y este ano la lluvia va a ser muy fuerte porque este fenomeno natural que normalmente empieza en septiembre este ano tarda hasta octubre. Es un signo. Por supuesto.
Jakarta mas que otras ciudades va sufrir mucho por ese fenomeno. Por que? Por su politica hacia la basura. Jakarta trata muy mal las basuras. No aparece ningun llamamiento a la ciudadania para limpiar la ciudad de las basuras o para tirar las basuras al basurero. Es extrano.
Esa extraneza nos conduce a una pregunta, le gustan a la gente las basuras? Quieren vivir con ellas? Por que no limpia la gente las calles, sus hogares o los canales de las basuras? Se refleja en esta actitud la civilizacion de la ciudadania de Jakarta?
Hablar de la civilizacion me recuerdo a un postulado comun "la civilizacion se refleja en el trato hacia las basuras". Cuanto mejor trata la gente las basuras, mas avanzada se ve su civilizacion. Y cuanto peor la gente trata las basuras, mas retrasado se considera su civilizacion. Porque la civilizacion no se trata solamente de la tecnologia que invade un pais, ni del ruido de la democracia que se grita por las calles. La civilizacion se vive en el rincon perdido, lugares ocultas y olvidadas. Si alli mejor se encuentre la gente/ el ambiente, mas grande y mas avanzado el pais se marcha en su camino.
Y los indonesios, que queremos nosotros? Avanzarnos en nuestro camino hacia una civilizacion mas avanzada, justa, atento al medio ambiente? O perdernos en los ruidos de la propaganda del avance de tecnologia, de economia sin atender al problema mas basico de la civilizacion: las basuras?
Yo elijo la primera y vosotros .....nos encontramos por el camino......

Melinda Dee
This name has been the headline of many newspapers this week. She has been a celebrity just in one week. But what wrong with her? She is beautiful, at least it is what we see in the medium of communication. She looks smart and elegant. But no body knew that this apparently elegant woman committed a financial scandal: money laundry and embezzlement of client's money. She has feather her nest.
This morning my students and me have taken this embarrassed scandal as a discussed topic. All arguments that they put lead to just one conclusion that she committed this burning scandal because she has been victim of glamorous metropolitan life and trend. That she is a person of weak personality invaded high level life advertising and self pride wrongly understood.

Ahmadiyah and God is Dead
In these last few days, we may be accustomed with the shout 'Ahmadiyah...disperse! loudly shouted in the streets all over the country. Ahmadiyah is a new 'sect' in Islamism. This sect interprets the Al - Quran in the light of their founder, a Punjaban devout moslem and a Prophet for his followers. The mainstream moslems hardly accept that there is other prophet after Mohamad. For them, Mohamad is the last prophet that God has planned to send to the world. A posterior prophet came after Mohamad would be considered as a liar. By this reason, they want the govt act in hard way to disperse the new coming sect Ahmadiyah.
I jut would like to ask, I don't know to whom, "does people deserve to take the place of God? Does people have any right to judge others as gentile or kafir or such alike? Who does have the supreme right to take the final decision on these matter?"
Nietzsche in his books criticizes these human judgements. Although he did not help people to understand God well rather he proclaimed the death og God, his message is clear 'God is God and human is human. That God does his works and us ours. We should not take God's works and authority as on the contrary God never takes what belong to human domain.'
"Do not judge your neighbour becuase neither God does it. If God Almighty does not judge human being, who you are then to judge your neighbour.
